Ambrosia Update and some photos of Gwen

I had a follow up appointment with my orthopedic surgeon yesterday and he commented that my bones are healing really well. The time line is still the same: rod out of clavicle the 3rd week of March, and standing on both legs 3rd week of March (can't wait!). My knee feels so much better, almost like its new self ;-)
Unfortunately I am still forbidden to put weight on my left leg, which means no walking (I must continue to hop about with my walker, or roll with my wheelchair). Moriah is staying with us this week and next week (our friend Cheri's niece who is awesome!). But we don't have any help lined up after she leaves March 1st....not sure what we will do. Spencer and I need to chat about what our needs are. We might be ok home alone with someone checking in on us (and taking Gwen for a walk- she gets a little stir crazy being cooped up). She continues to be amazing and below is some evidence.

Out to breakfast.

Not too sure about Milton who is not too sure about Gwen.

Farmer's Market

Spencer and Gwen broke in my wheelchair before I got home. Gwen is getting soooo big. In this photo she is wearing the dress she wore at Thanksgiving, but with pants because it fits her more like a shirt!

Saturday we all went to the Farmer's Market like we always do. It was a bit of a bumpy ride (my wheelchair needs shocks!), but a very enjoyable outing. We even had breakfast at The Palace Cafe (mmm...blueberry pancakes). Gwen had fun playing with her Auntie Angelique who was pretending that her knee was a horse, and her hands the reins while she sang theme song to Bonanza. Someone asked Angel and I if we were twins...and I can see why from these photos!

Multitasking Mama

Ambrosia has resumed her normal breastfeeding schedule thanks to her safe pain meds (the same ones they give to c-section mamas after birth), her very supportive family, and Ambrosia's unwavering determination. Only the 24 hours after surgery had to be thrown out due to pain meds. Now Gwen visits twice a day for direct breastfeeding, and receives breast milk in between at home (from a bottle). Her right arm has limited use and her left rib is still very sore, but Gwen and mama have found a position that works.

Here's Ambrosia breastfeeding while a continuous motion machine performs physical therapy on her left leg to speed recovery:
