School!

Gwen is in love with her "school"- we have been doing GymKids at the Sunnyvale/Cupertino Audlt Education Center Since the Fall (right before she could walk. Since she mastered the gym, we started "preschool" (1.5 hours one day a week with parent). These pictures are from the Book Fair they had this evening. She showed off to Daddy all the toys and climbing equipment, and made a new friend who gave her a ride on his tricycle (super cute!).

Silly Gwen-Gwen

Gwen and I have been having a lot of fun together lately. Me napping with her during the has made me a much happier Mama and that has helped. We started our "preschool" class which is super cute- an hour and a half of the preschool experience for toddler and parent. We also started up our Music class again which was on a long two week break, and Gwen was so excited to see her Music teacher and sing/dance. These are some fun pictures from the last few weeks. Gwen wanted to go on a walk one morning with her bay (complete with sunglasses and pacifier- she rarely uses her pacifier). And then at our friend's house lining up the rubber ducks on the hot tub and then discovering she can see in the kitchen window. Silly Gwen-Gwen!

It's a Boy!

Happy April Fools! Just kidding, our ultrasound is scheduled for April 22nd and we will find out the sex of the baby then.
A few people were asking how I have been doing. Much better now that I am into my 2nd trimester. Though I am having serious lower back pain. Friday it came to the point that it hurt to walk and hurt to sit. I saw a chiropractor Monday and I have a pinched nerve on my S1. I feel much better now but still can feel where my back is out and need to make sure I don't over due it. I am going to see the chiro until I feel 100% since I don't want any extra complications during labor (goal is natural childbirth again). And I felt the baby move for the first time last night! Today is Gwen's 1/2 birthday and we are going to have a special dessert (strawberry shortcake) in honor of her, since we may not end up doing much for her actual birthday (depending on when her sibling arrives). Happy half birthday Gwen!

18 Month Well Child

Gwen had her first well child appointment (up to this point they have been called well baby). She was asked to take off her shoes before standing on the scale (which I helped with). Then she stood still while her height was measured- it was so cute! She is 27lbs 7oz and 31 inches tall (90th and 89th percentile respectively). She is exceeding all her milestones and developing beautifully (we already knew that ;-)

Eat, Sleep, Play- Do it again!

I missed doing a 17 month update, and now Gwen is almost 18 months. Rest assured she continues to be amazing. She is talking a lot- seriously new words every day- yesterday she started saying "All done," and today she said bucket- though her words aren't always clear to the untrained ear. I had to put all her 18 month clothes away and pull out her 24 months and 2T clothes since she is growing like a weed! And the last pair of shoes I bought her were a size 6 (which leaves her toes with a little room to grow). She has a great sense of humor and is so much fun. She has cut way back on her nursing (3-4 times a day) and is eating like she has a hollow leg. Now that the weather is nice we have been spending a lot of time in the front and backyards. She keeps picking flowers saying "Nose! Nose!"- evidence of my efforts to get her to smell the flowers not pick them. But why else are they there, to be enjoyed and she is loving them!

Goat!

Gwen and I took a day trip yesterday to Sonoma to visit my Uncle Rich and his girlfriend Katja. They recently got a Mama goat and baby (he isn't even a month old). Gwen had such a good time and couldn't sit still inside for lunch, she kept saying "Goat! Goat!" It was a long drive (2 hrs) but totally doable. Gwen is a great traveler and I am so thankful to be able to do stuff like this with her.

What to Expect When You Are....

We are expecting New Baby September 20, 2010!
This past Thursday we had our first prenatal appointment and got to see the heartbeat fluttering on our New Baby, or little bean. S/he was hiding in the back corner of my uterus so the sonogram isn't that good, but you can make him/her out in the far left between the two crosses that the OB used to measure head to rump to determine how far along we are (8 weeks and 3 days which is exactly what I thought). The round moon like object above and to the right of little bean is the yoke sac. Spencer and Gwen were there for the first sonogram and Gwen was so amazing. She pointed to the screen of black and white gobbly-gook and said as clear as day, "Baby." It was so awesome. Baby is officially her first 2 syllable word. I am doing really well- just tired (really tired) and a little nauseous. Gwen is still breastfeeding but she has cut back a lot (which is kinda sad, but also a relief). I don't plan on weaning her, and we are not moving! We love our little house and look forward to the challenge of trying to fit our expanding family and all its gear in it.
