Ambrosia has resumed her normal breastfeeding schedule thanks to her safe pain meds (the same ones they give to c-section mamas after birth), her very supportive family, and Ambrosia's unwavering determination. Only the 24 hours after surgery had to be thrown out due to pain meds. Now Gwen visits twice a day for direct breastfeeding, and receives breast milk in between at home (from a bottle). Her right arm has limited use and her left rib is still very sore, but Gwen and mama have found a position that works.
Here's Ambrosia breastfeeding while a continuous motion machine performs physical therapy on her left leg to speed recovery:

So sorry to hear of your accident. Thankful for the healing that has already begun. Praying for you and your family.
Catherine (A blog friend of Karen)
Dear Ambrosia, I found your blog through Karen's and have been reading and reading.
First, congratulations on the natural birth of your daughter. I'm a doula and know very well what is involved in natural birth, especially in today's medicalized climate.
Second, congratulations on your determination to continue breastfeeding, despite all your body is enduring.
Lastly, and most important, I'm so glad you and your family lived through the car accident.
I will pray that your recovery continues to go well and that you'll be home with your family again soon.
