We survived the first week! It has been a crazy roller coaster ride, but with way more ups than downs. Not sleeping enough has been the most challenging... Gwen is doing well. We have overcome the jaundice issue, but continue to struggle with breastfeeding- you would think it would be a no brainer, but there is a science or maybe it is an art to breastfeeding that we haven't quite figured out yet. But the good news is she has stopped loosing weight. It is normal for babies to loose up to 10% of their birth weight, but at one point she had lost 12% so we are having to supplement with formula (this should be temporary). We started going on a daily walk yesterday, and my goal is to be able to walk to the farmers market Saturday morning. But enough chatter, let's get to the good stuff- pictures of baby!
Grandpa Mike visited Sunday.
Gwen sleeping in the cradle Grandpa Mike made.
I'm not yellow-I'm just peachy :-)
One of the rougher afternoons, Milton didn't seem to mind and took advantage of Spencer being down.
Positive of having to use a bottle- Spencer gets to feed her too.
Tummy time!

Rosie-
Not sure if the problem is latching or the position, but if it's the positioning, try putting several pillows up under your elbow. Or try turning her almost upside down while supporting her head....(hard to explain)
Or try googling breastfeeding latching The first link I came to was an about.com article called "Sore nipples while breastfeeding" but the link has a good explanation about positioning and latching-better than I could give. Keep it up though, it's so much less expensive, and when you master it, so much easier to bring her into your bed and go back to sleep instead of getting up every few hours.
Hey Ambrosia, about breast feeding - it was very hard for me in the begining too, but don't give up~ it will be easier and easier... Remember to relax your shoulder before hand. If you are tence and not comfortable with the position, less production and your baby would sense that too. Have you tried lying down side way to do it? It will be very relaxing for both you and the baby. It worked for me. Also, I used this when I was sitting on a chair. It worked great too...
